| Why Are YMCAs Unique! |
Nationally the largest provider of childcare, there are currently 2,686 YMCAs across the nation. Goals were manifested initially in 1851 as an alternative to the “wicked life on the streets”. No other organization even remotely approaches the YMCAs as a provider of community programs. The YMCA of the USA has established a nationwide program for training and certification of YMCA staff. |

The Greater Newburgh YMCA:
- Provides health and fitness for children and adults as part of our charitable mission.
- We are about much more than helping people improve their health, we help people develop as whole and complete human beings – dedicated to building strong spirit and mind – as well as body.
- We practice the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in everything we do – how we operate, how programs are developed and how they are delivered.
- We are tax-exempt because what we do benefits the entire community.
- Our YMCA was created by the community – to serve the community. We are volunteer founded, volunteer based and volunteer led.
- Our assets belong to and stay in the community – there are no shareholders or private owners who reap any profits.
- Our YMCA is open to everyone!
